Women Now Majority on Conshohocken’s Borough Council

Democrats held three of the four seats up for election on Conshohocken’s Borough Council, but what it is more interesting (and probably the first time in history) is that women will hold four of the seven seats on Borough Council starting in 2016.

From the unofficial results on the county’s election page:

Karen Tutino (D) defeated Joe Ferrigno (R) 213 to 172

Tina Sokolowski (D) defeated Joseph Januzelli (R) 164 to 71

Kevin McMonagle (R) defeated Rosemary Northcutt (D) 136 to 131

Colleen Leonard (D) defeated Chuck Mandracchia (R) 206 to 63

Newcomers Sokolowski and Leonard will now join Tutino (who was an incumbent) and Anita Barton (who was not up for re-election) on Borough Council in January. All four are Democrats. The lone man on the Democrat side on Borough Council is Ike Griffin.

McMonagle will join fellow Republican Bob Stokley as the two Republicans on Borough Council. Northcutt was technically an incumbent as she was just recently appointed to the seat in mid-September when Matt Ryan resigned.
