Will Council Vote on Development Plan on Wednesday Night?

While the agenda for Wednesday night’s Borough Council meeting has not yet been published on the borough’s website, the Times Herald spoke with Borough Manager Fran Marabella and Borough Council President Paul McConnell and there is the likelihood of a discussion and possibly a vote to select a redevelopment proposals for properties at West Elm and Fayette and the Verizon Building at 4th and Fayette.

The two proposals up for discussion and/or a vote, are from Keystone Property Group and Brandywine Realty Trust.  At the corner of West Elm and Fayette, Keystone proposes to build a boutique hotel while Brandywine proposes and office building.  Both want to put a restaurant in the old fire house adjacent to that property.  At 4th and Fayette, Keystone proposes to rehab the Verizon Building and include space for a Borough Hall and new police station in addition commercial space.  Brandywine proposes to knock down the Verizon Building and build a new building for exclusive use of the Borough and police.

There is still time to offer your opinion if you attend the meeting.  It will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Old Borough Hall at 8th and Fayette.
