Update on the Conshohocken Sewer Authority’s Plan to Fix Odor Issue

We have received three emails/messages the past couple of days complaining about the smell on the lower east side of Conshohocken. The smell, which originates at the sewage plant, has been an issue for decades.

Last year it was announced that the Sewer Authority had completed a study and was going to spend north of $2 million to fix the problem. At a February meeting of this year, the Sewer Authority’s board voted 5-0 to accept a bid for a contractor to do the work. Here is how it was written in the minutes:

A motion was made by Mrs. Reilly, seconded by Mrs. Barton to award the Odor Control project to Eastern Environmental Contractors, Inc. None opposed. Motion approved 5-0.

According to a newsletter published by the Authority, the work is to be completed during the summer of 2016.
