Conshohocken will mark Veterans Day on November 11th with the rest of the country. The holiday, which was originally known as Armistice Day, started in 1919 and in 1954 became known as Veterans Day.
The below image shows a ceremony to dedicate the war memorial on West 2nd Avenue in Conshohocken on Armistice Day in 1928. The memorial still exists today but has been updated throughout the years.
The photo was likely taken from the second or third floor of what is now The Great American Pub. Note that the photo appears to be flipped due to the reversed location of the white home at the top of the hill. The white home, and building with a triangle roof, still stand today.
Today, the memorial has a statue titled “The Family” at its base.
