As part of a continuing infrastructure improvement program, Aqua Pennsylvania (Aqua) will replace the existing water main on the following streets in Plymouth and East Norriton Townships between March 14th and into June:
- Arch Road between Germantown Pike and Township Line Road
- Township Line Road between Arch Road and Azalea Terrace
- Azalea Terrace between Township Line Road and a point 303 feet w/o Township Line Road
- Knoll Road between Old Arch Road and a point 263 feet s/o Old Arch Road
Construction will take place weekdays between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Work and detour hours on Township Line Road will take place weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Work on Arch Road will take place weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Access will be provided for emergency, mail, school bus and trash services. Residents will be provided access to their properties but at times will need to enter from a different direction due to changing work zones. Aqua will notify customers 24 hours in advance of any scheduled shutdown, however, as with any construction project, an emergency shutdown might be necessary.
The new main will increase service reliability, reduce the potential for discolored water and improve firefighting capabilities in the area. Following the installation of the new water main, there will be a period of time during which the main will be chlorinated and tested before being put into service, during this phase, activity on the job site will be limited. Once testing has been completed, Aqua will transfer each water service and any fire hydrants onto the new main. It is important to note that the trench will be covered with temporary black top at the end of each work day. Once all of the activity described has been completed, permanent restoration will follow in about 30 to 60 days.
