New Streetscapes Being Considered for Portion of East Hector Street in Conshohocken

During last week’s Borough Council meeting in Conshohocken, there was a presentation by Bergmann Associates detailing options for streetscapes for East Hector Street between Apple and Ash Streets. Below is the video from the Times Herald:

The text from the Times Herald story includes:

Dana Reeves, a project interior designer, said parking, trees and traffic were problems on the three-block section of Hector Street.

“Parking would increase from 127 parking spaces to 137 parking spaces,” Reeves said. “Two other options would decrease the number of traffic islands in the middle of each block and increase the number of parking spaces.”

The planted traffic islands would only remove two parking spaces from each block, said Pattie Guttenplan, the project planner and landscape architect.

The design of the traffic islands had several options for planter boxes and knee-walls that would contain both trees and low plantings. Hector Street traffic would continue as a single lane of traffic with parking on both sides of the street.

The proposal would reduce the number of street trees to 34 trees.
