The Colonial Board of School Directors appointed Kylene Phillips Assistant Principal of Colonial Elementary School (CES) at their public business meeting on September 17. Ms. Phillips replaces Jared Gamble who became Whitemarsh Elementary School Principal in August.
Ms. Phillips has spent the past seven years as a teacher and administrator in the Philadelphia School District. Most recently she was Dean of Students at Woodrow Wilson Middle School serving on the administrative leadership team and being responsible for facilitating professional development, student discipline and more.
Ms. Phillips also taught elementary and middle school classes, including sixth grade International Baccalaureate classes in science and mathematics. She holds instructional certifications in K-12 Administration, Elementary Education and Middle School Science, Math, English and Citizenship Education.
“We are delighted to welcome Kylene Phillips to the Colonial School District,” said Superintendent Dr. MaryEllen Gorodetzer. “Her excellent communication skills, diverse curricular experience and obvious enthusiasm for education make her a perfect fit for our administrative team.”
“In addition to Kylene’s instructional strength, she has an obvious passion and commitment to children that will benefit our students and entire school community,” added CES Principal Dr. Terese Boegly. “I’m looking forward to working with her and continuing the success of Colonial Elementary.”
Ms. Phillips holds a BS degree in Elementary Education from King’s College and a M.Ed. with Administrative Certification from Cabrini College. She will begin her new job on October 5.
