Local High Schools Ranked Among Top High School by US News & World Report

Plymouth Whitemarsh High School and Upper Merion High School have once again ranked among the top high schools in Pennsylvania and the nation according to the annual rankings released by US News & World Report. The magazine rates Plymouth Whitemarsh High School 38th in Pennsylvania and 1,456th nationally. Upper Merion High School ranked 53rd within Pennsylvania and 1,727th nationally. Both schools were awarded a Silver Medal for being within the top 10 percent of the 20,487 schools considered for the rankings.

“Our continued successes are based on our data-driven approach to curriculum and instruction,” said Superintendent Dr. MaryEllen Gorodetzer. “Tracking student performance enables us to customize curriculum to meet the needs of individual students, and to narrow the achievement gap.”

The 2017 US News & World Report rankings are based on graduation data and scores on state level math and reading proficiency tests from the 2014-2015 school year. Also considered was a college-ready performance score, which is determined using Advanced Placement test participation and achievement data from 2015 graduates.
