Hotel and Office Building Redevelopment Proposal Goes Before the Conshohocken Planning Commission Tonight

Sorry for the late notice. Tonight there is a 7:00 p.m. meeting of Conshohocken’s Planning Commission. On the agenda is SORA West, the proposed redevelopment of the first block of Fayette Street between West Elm Street and West 1st Avenue. What is proposed is a hotel, replacing the two existing office buildings with larger ones, replacing the existing parking garage with a larger one, and a public square in the middle.

The scope of the redevelopment plan doesn’t fit within the current zoning and the developer, Keystone Property Group, is seeking the creation of a new zoning district to permit it. The Planning Commission does not grant approval. This commission will consider the request and provide Borough Council with an advisory, non-binding, opinion. Once the Planning Commission makes this opinion, the process will move to Borough Council, where the actual decision will be made as to create or not create the new zoning district.

This will be the first opportunity to make a public comment on this proposal at a meeting that matters. The meeting will be held at the new Borough Hall at West 4th and Fayette.
