Heaven & Earth Salon in Lafayette Hill has achieved Ambassador Salon status in the Wigs for Kids Salon Network, making it one of a select group of salons nationwide. Ambassador status requires demonstrated knowledge of the Wigs for Kids program, skill in the proper cutting techniques for properly harvesting hair donations and a commitment to support the program through fund raising activities.
“We are proud to be a Wigs for Kids Ambassador Salon,” says Lisa Kasmen, salon owner. “It gives us an opportunity to use our training to really make a difference in the lives of these children, many who are in our community. We hope everyone in the community will support our efforts to support Wigs for Kids.” As part of their participation, the salon offers free haircuts to those who wish to donate and meet the Wigs for Kids requirement that the donated hair is a minimum of 12 inches in length.
“Ambassador salons play a major role in Wigs for Kids ultimately being able to provide hair systems to children in need,” says Jeffrey Paul, founder of the Wigs for Kids organization. “It takes anywhere from 15 – 30 ponytails to create a hair replacement system for a child. We rely on our talented network of Ambassadors to properly cut and prepare the hair that is so generously donated.”
“In over 30 years of operation, no child served by Wigs for Kids has paid for their hair replacement system,” added Paul. “The financial support provided by our Ambassador Salons through fundraising events, donations or sponsoring a child, ensures that we can continue to meet the needs of these children.”
Wigs for Kids provides complimentary hair replacement systems to children who have suffered hair loss as a result of chemotherapy, radiation, alopecia, burns or other medical circumstances. The organization also serves to educate the medical community and the public on the issues, challenges and available options for these children. Wigs for Kids is a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) organization with global headquarters in Westlake, OH.
