A couple readers sent us a message about emergency and hazmat vehicles in the area of East 9th and 10th between Harry and Hallowell. The county’s active incident report states that there is a “Hazardous Materials Incident,” at East 10th at Harry Street.

We messaged with two people within the first responder community and learned it is a mercury spill. The company involved is Lotus Environmental Consulting at 151 East 10th Avenue and the building was referred to as “unsafe”.

We have no information on whether there were any injuries, etc.

UPDATE – The owner of Lotus Environmental Consulting commented with additional information. That company found mercury leaking through its ceiling in its conference room. Lotus does not work with hazardous materials.
