In May, Conshohocken Police Chief George Metz announced his retirement effective June 30th. The Borough of Conshohocken has now officially advertised for the open position and in an email outlined the responsibilities of the position and the qualities the municipality is looking for in a new chief. From the email:
The total police operating budget is approximately $5.7 million. This position manages a department of 19 full-time sworn officers, two full-time civilian employees, and approximately 10 part-time civilian employees. This executive-level position is responsible for all Police Department personnel, programs, and services. The position is also responsible for creating and implementing a progressive law enforcement program and addressing the public health and safety needs of Conshohocken.
The successful candidate must be community focused with an emphasis on the ability to identify community issues, develop innovative responses, and issue corrective action plans as applicable. The candidate must develop interactive partnerships with the community and empower the Police Department to proactively address public safety concerns. The candidate must have the leadership, management, and interpersonal skills necessary to maintain and advance the department as a professional and innovative police agency.
Applicants should demonstrate supervisory and leadership abilities in their submissions. A minimum of 10 years of management experience and a Bachelor’s Degree is required. A Master’s Degree is preferred. Applicants must have strong written and verbal communication skills and be familiar with PLEAC standards and objectives for success-oriented outcomes.
The salary range is $150,000 – $170,000 with an excellent benefits package; the exact salary will depend on qualifications and experience.
