Borough of Conshohocken drops Outbound Station eminent domain ordinance from February 16th agenda

On Saturday, February 12th, the Borough of Conshohocken announced that it has decided to remove the consideration of a proposed ordinance that involved the eminent domain of The Outbound Station property at 2 Harry Street in Conshohocken from the agenda for the February 16th meeting of the borough council.

The notice stated:

On February 2, 2022, the Borough of Conshohocken approved advertisement of an ordinance that would authorize eminent domain on 2 Harry Street (Tax Map Parcel No. 05-00-004876-00-6). Over the course of this past week, productive conversations and negotiations have occurred with all parties involved. It is the Borough’s expectation that these negotiations will continue in good faith.  Therefore, as of today, Saturday, February 12, 2022, this business matter has been tabled and will not appear on the February 16, 2022 Borough Council meeting agenda for consideration.

We contact the property owners, Joe and Barbara Collins, after we received the notice and asked if they had been having “productive conversations and negotiations” with the borough. They shared that they had not negotiated at all and continued to state that they do not wish to sell the property.

This doesn’t mean the issue is dead. They can always restart the process and consider it in the future.

More to come.
