Borough of Conshohocken Considering Options to Slow Traffic on West 6th Avenue

A reader sent us a letter he received from Anita Barton, the representative on Borough Council for Ward 4, that seeks input on the use of speed tables to slow traffic on West 6th Avenue. The traffic is turning onto West 6th from Colwell Lane and then heading to Fayette Streets or other points in the Borough.

What is a speed table? According to the National Association of City Transportation Officials, “Speed tables are midblock traffic calming devices that raise the entire wheelbase of a vehicle to reduce its traffic speed. Speed tables are longer than speed humps and flat-topped, with a height of 3–3.5 inches and a length of 22 feet.”

The letter, which is below, encourages residents to attend the Wednesday, July 5th meeting of Borough Council when the topic will be discussed. It is at 7:00 p.m. at Borough Hall at West 4th and Fayette.
