Big Night for the Future of Conshohocken

During tonight’s meeting of Conshohocken’s Borough Council, Keystone Property Group will present it’s plan for the redevelopment of lower Fayette Street and propose that Borough Council create a Special Zoning District to allow for the plan to move forward.

The plan, which Keystone calls One Conshohocken, consists of a 200′ hotel at the corner of West Elm and Fayette, a 300,000 square foot office tower at West 1st and Fayette to replace an existing smaller building, the replacement of an existing office building on West Elm with a lager one, a six story parking garage with 300 free parking space for the public, 1,200 parking spaces underground for use by the hotel and office buildings, the rehab of the old fire house into a restaurant, and a town square between the hotel and office buildings.

If the Special Zoning District is created, Keystone will build in phases. The first phase will be the hotel, underground parking, the old fire house and the square. The office buildings would be built when anchor tenants are signed.

Public comment will be part of this process. Don’t expect a decision tonight. The meeting is at 7:00 p.m. at Old Borough Hall and West 8th and Fayette. We have heard that they were considering moving this meeting to Washies. If that happens, we will update the post and get the word out via social media. Keystone is expected to begin the presentation at about 7:20 p.m.

Over at the Fellowship House tonight at 7:00 p.m., there is a meeting of the Zoning Hearing Board. One hearing involves variances sought by the purchaser of the Casmar Cafe that seeks to expand the use of the building to the upstairs and outside area. The new restaurant would be named Jasper’s Backyard.
